Who we are

LearnTech is the trading name of Technical Professionals Limited, the name under which our official LearnTech Ofsted report is published. When you search for LearnTech Ofsted Report, you’ll find it listed under Technical Professionals Limited – the same team, the same high standards and the same commitment to excellence in tech education.

Ofsted and why it matters

Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, is the government body that inspects and regulates services providing education and skills for learners of all ages. That includes independent training providers like us at LearnTech.

With their mission to ‘improve lives by raising standards in education,’ Ofsted inspections play a crucial role in ensuring quality and accountability in apprenticeship and vocational training. For us, inspections are also a time to celebrate our learners, reflect, improve and grow.

2025 has brought changes to how Ofsted inspections are carried out and we welcome that! We’re excited by any opportunity to show how our learners thrive in a modern, digital-first learning environment.

An independent training provider

As an independent training provider, LearnTech (Technical Professionals Limited) is agile, focused and fast-moving. We can act quickly on feedback from learners, employers, industry experts and of course, Ofsted inspectors.

This flexibility allows us to adapt swiftly and continuously improve our provision, whether that’s refining the way we deliver apprenticeship programmes or tailoring training sessions to employer needs.

Our approach to Ofsted inspections

At LearnTech, we welcome Ofsted inspections as an opportunity to highlight the quality of our education, the experiences of our learners and the valuable feedback we receive. We approach inspections with openness and see them as a chance to identify areas for growth, while demonstrating our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.

Our culture encourages shared responsibility and collective ownership, making every inspection a collaborative moment to proudly showcase what we’re passionate about – teaching tech!

As we’re a remote working organisation, most inspections take place near our Manchester HQ. Senior leaders attend in person, whilst our wider team continues with business as usual. If inspectors want to attend any training sessions, they’re always accompanied by at least two LearnTech team members to ensure everyone feels supported.

Prioritising mental health and wellbeing

We understand Ofsted inspections can be stressful. That’s why LearnTech has taken a proactive approach to staff and learner wellbeing, by embedding processes and systems that reduce the mental load of inspections. This includes standardised quality processes, clear operations and solid information systems, all designed to make inspections and audits smoother and less stressful.

As part of our wider commitment to staff and learner wellbeing, we’re also a Mindful Employer, promoting a supportive, inclusive approach to mental health in the workplace. Beyond processes, we care about people. Our team benefits from a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, trained mental health first aiders and access to professional counselling.

Our message is simple – you’re never alone.

Our people

Behind every inspection is a team of passionate professionals committed to excellence and this includes…

  • Katie Fowler, Director of Education, has led two LearnTech Ofsted inspections (2019, 2021) as our Quality Nominee.
  • Chris Brown, Head of Operations and Quality, has supported both inspections and serves as our Shadow Nominee.

Collectively, our team brings experience from over 75 Ofsted inspections across different frameworks and provision types. This depth of experience allows us to approach every visit with confidence.

Our Ofsted timeline

2019
Our first Ofsted monitoring visit

We received ‘Reasonable Progress’ in all areas. This inspection marked the beginning of our formal journey with Ofsted. We partnered with an external governor, a Further Education and Ofsted consultant, who advises us through quarterly reviews, ensuring we continue to improve our provision and meet our employers’ needs.

2020
Adapting and innovating through change

This pivotal year, shaped by the pandemic, strengthened our commitment to flexibility, innovation and support for our learners, employers and staff during uncertain times.

2021
First full LearnTech Ofsted inspection

Despite the pandemic challenges, we earned a ‘Good’ rating in all areas. It was a testament to our learners, employers, staff and our commitment to delivering high-quality tech education under extraordinary circumstances.

2022
Consolidation and consistency

Post-inspection, we focused on strengthening all ‘Good’ areas by embedding consistency across our learning provision.

Quarterly consultations with our external LearnTech Ofsted consultant, directors and learning leaders helped refine delivery methods and ensure our provision stayed aligned with both employer needs and Ofsted expectations.

2023
Enhancing leadership and vocational excellence

In 2023, we worked closely with our consultants and employer partners to strengthen our leadership and governance. This was essential to sustain LearnTech’s growth, whilst continuing to improve quality of education. We also focused on ensuring our programmes equipped apprentices for long term vocational success, and we enhanced the meta-learning journey of our learners to support deeper, transferable skills.

2024
SEND innovation and science of learning

In 2024, we critically evaluated and refined our delivery model to align with andragogical principles and the latest research in the science of learning. We continued our regular quarterly engagement with consultants and employer partners to validate that our approach was effectively meeting employer needs.

Additionally, we expanded our support for apprentices, particularly those with SEND and High Needs. This included the introduction of a dedicated SENCO role at LearnTech, an approach we understand is rare among independent training providers. With it came new initiatives including learning adaptations, targeted mentoring and accessibility audits.

2025
Preparing for our next inspection

We anticipate an inspection in the near future. This year, we’ve introduced accredited BCS AI & Data qualifications as part of our offer, alongside the core apprenticeship learning, based on employer demand. We continue to work closely with our LearnTech Ofsted consultant and employer partners to ensure every apprentice’s journey is future ready and industry relevant.

Since 2022, we’ve conducted 9 external challenge reviews, averaging three per year. Each review pushes us further, ensuring we continue to improve our standards.

Final thoughts

At LearnTech (Technical Professionals Limited), we see Ofsted not as a hurdle, but a milestone. Since 2021, we’ve grown stronger, more consistent and more innovative. Our learners are better supported. Our staff are better prepared. Our employer partners are better informed, and our courses are better aligned with the real world despite the rapid development in the digital and AI arena.

We look forward to our next inspection – we’re ready to showcase the incredible achievements of our learners, our staff and our partners.
