Ellie joined Xpedite Group of Companies in June 2021 as part of their Intelligence Delivery Team, beginning the journey with us as her training provider. She started out on the Level 3 Data Technician apprenticeship, which she successfully completed with a Distinction in January 2023. Showing strong potential and dedication, Ellie progressed to the Level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeship, completing it in March 2025 – again with a Distinction. Her journey is a great example of how combining learning with real-world experience can help build a successful career in data.

Ellie saw the value in her Level 3 apprenticeship, making the decision to progress to Level 4 an easy one.

“After my invaluable experience on the Level 3 Data Technician apprenticeship with LearnTech, I decided to enrol onto the Level 4 Data Analyst programme,”

she explains.

“The Level 4 course covered topics that were important for my career development at Xpedite. I thought it would be a great opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge while continuing to work, alongside training.“

Balancing busy work periods with training was one of the more challenging aspects of her apprenticeships, especially as her role evolved in response to the company’s rapid growth. However, this experience significantly strengthened her time management skills. Another challenge was applying theoretical knowledge to real-world situations. She learned to identify areas within the business that could benefit from the concepts introduced in her training sessions, turning classroom learning into practical value.

Throughout her apprenticeships, Ellie grew by embracing new techniques and opportunities to apply more effective data analysis practices. Over time, she gained valuable experience and confidence, becoming a more capable and self-assured member of the data team at Xpedite.

When asked about her biggest success so far, Ellie shared,

“My biggest successes are receiving a Distinction in both my apprenticeships. These qualifications, along with the new knowledge and skills I’ve gained, have played such a significant part in my professional development.”

Adam Archer, Intelligence Delivery Team Lead and Ellie’s manager, reflects on her impact,

“Ellie was Xpedite’s first apprentice, starting back in 2021, and in many ways she’s the reason we’ve continued to recruit apprentices. She earned a Distinction in her Level 3 Data Technician course and went on to achieve the same at Level 4. Ellie has grown with the company, applying best practices from her training directly to our data operations. Her keen attention to detail and encyclopaedic knowledge of our data sets, combined with the skills she’s developed throughout her apprenticeship, have made her an indispensable part of the team.”

During her Level 4 apprenticeship, Ellie was promoted to the role of Data & Change Management Coordinator, taking on more responsibility for the organisation’s data handling and management. Looking ahead, her goal is to continue introducing improved data and change management practices across the business. In the long term, she hopes to progress into more senior leadership roles, building on the strong foundation her apprenticeships have provided.

Georgina, trainer / mentor at LearnTech, shared,

“Ellie did really well throughout her apprenticeship, maintaining consistency from start to finish. She had an excellent work ethic and was always eager to help others during the training sessions. Ellie was very receptive to the feedback I provided and took every opportunity to learn something new or improve her existing skills. It’s been great to see her progress from the Level 3 apprenticeship, where she earned a Distinction, to expanding on those skills in the Level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeship, where she also achieved a Distinction this year. I’m so pleased for her, as this is a true testament to the hard work and dedication she has shown throughout both apprenticeships.”

Ellie reflects on her learning experience,

“I can’t fault the learning experience with LearnTech at all. The level of support has been excellent, and the training topics are well thought out. LearnTech guided me through two apprenticeships, both of which I completed with Distinction grades. Georgina was an amazing mentor throughout my Level 4 apprenticeship, providing continuous support for my personal and professional development right up until the very end of the programme.”

Ellie also shares her experience of the live, online training sessions,

“Live, online training can sometimes be challenging to make engaging, but Georgina did an excellent job of keeping the cohort involved throughout the sessions. The training was varied and incorporated interactive elements rather than just talking at us. For example, we had practical exercises, group discussions, breakout rooms and more – these helped make the learning experience much more engaging and effective.”

When asked what advice she would give to anyone considering an apprenticeship in tech, Ellie said,

“It’s an obvious choice in my opinion. It gives you the opportunity to gain a wide range of skills in a rapidly growing industry, all while earning a salary. You get more practical, real-world experience with an apprenticeship, rather than just theoretical knowledge.”
